Who He Is

El Elyon — The Most High God

A name of God used throughout Scripture to declare that He is exalted above every power, authority, and created thing.

The Name Above All

El Elyon (אֵל עֶלְיוֹן) combines El ("God, Mighty One") with Elyon ("Most High, exalted"). Together they proclaim that the God of Abraham is supreme over heaven and earth.

Melchizedek first blessed Abram "in the name of God Most High, Creator of heaven and earth" (Genesis 14:19). From that moment, the title marks Yahweh as the sovereign ruler of all nations — not just Israel.

"I will praise you, LORD, among the nations; I will sing of you among the peoples. For great is your love, reaching to the heavens; your faithfulness reaches to the skies. Be exalted, O God, above the heavens; let your glory be over all the earth." — Psalm 57:9-11
עֶלְיוֹן
Elyon · Most High

He sits enthroned above the circles of the earth. Nothing is outside His rule, nothing beyond His care.

The Savior

Jesus — Son of the Most High

The angel declared it at His birth: "He will be great and will be called the Son of the Most High" (Luke 1:32). In Jesus, El Elyon came near.

Yeshua · The Lord Saves

"For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life." — John 3:16

The Way, the Truth, the Life

Jesus is not one teacher among many. He is the visible image of the invisible God — the Word made flesh, who dwelled among us full of grace and truth.

He healed the sick, forgave the guilty, and conquered death by rising from the grave. To know Him is to know the Most High personally.

"I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me." — John 14:6
The Comforter

The Holy Spirit — The Power of the Most High

The third person of the Trinity — not a force, but a Person. He is the Spirit of El Elyon, given to dwell in all who belong to Jesus.

God With Us, Within Us

At Jesus' baptism the Spirit descended like a dove, and at Pentecost He poured out on the church. He is the presence of the Most High living inside His people — teaching, convicting, comforting, and empowering.

Jesus promised His followers: "the Father will give you another Counselor, that he may be with you forever — the Spirit of truth" (John 14:16-17).

"But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you. You will be my witnesses… to the ends of the earth." — Acts 1:8

Ruach · The Breath of God

He seals believers as God's own (Ephesians 1:13-14), guides us into all truth (John 16:13), and produces His fruit in a life: love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control (Galatians 5:22-23).
